  • News cards: Organize your content into consistent and visually appealing rectangles. Whether it's news, featured content, lists, or other items, you can use this design to break up the monotonous flow of your page.

  • Knowledge base sections: Got loads of documentation and FAQs? Put them together neatly using our suggested section designs for knowledge bases. These templates combine useful functionalities to make information more accessible to your users.
  • Features: Want to highlight specific content or a series of communication pieces? Transform your page with our new feature section templates. These designs will capture attention and help you achieve your communication goals.

  • Headers and Footers: As the first and last elements users see on your page, headers and footers are crucial components. Engage users immediately with compelling call-to-action content in your header, while providing comprehensive resource links in your footer for easy navigation.

Content is at the heart of every page. After all, users seek it to stay informed and up-to-date. While it should always be relevant and informative, reading it shouldn't feel like a chore—and it certainly doesn't need to look boring.

This is where the Inline Text Editor saves the day! Imagine a text editor that not only offers common formatting options but also provides unique features to transform simple text into interactive content. It’s SUPER convenient, further enhancing how you present text on your SharePoint pages.

Here are 3 awesome ways you can use the Inline Text Editor to bring your content to the next level:

  1. Experiment with Typography
The Inline Text Editor allows you to explore a wide array of text formatting options—be it Bold, Italics, Underlined, ALL CAPS, or small caps, it has it all. You can play with colors, choose fonts, customize alignment, and even assign headings. It’s as easy as formatting text in a Word document. All you have to do is highlight the text and choose the format you want.

    Text Editor Features.
  2. Enhance Text with Eye-catching Elements
Who says that content only needs to be about text? With the Inline Text Editor, you can enhance your writing with images, videos, links, and tables. This adds a whole new way for your users to consume your content, giving them a much more enjoyable experience.

Location Spotlight

Location Spotlight is on Nigeria

workers in romania

We are continuing our global journey to introduce ShortPoint's talented team members who work remotely from around the world. Today, we spotlight Nigeria, home to two of our dedicated professionals who will share their unique remote work experiences and cultural insights. Through their stories, we'll discover how they navigate challenges, contribute to our collaborative environment, and bring distinctive West African perspectives to our diverse global organization.

Ifeoluwa Oduse serves as our Senior UI/UX Designer, working from Lagos, Nigeria. He has been embracing remote work since 2020, accumulating nearly 5 years of experience in the virtual workspace. Emmanuel Según-Lean is our Middle Front-End Developer who, until recently, was based in Abuja, Nigeria. After two years of remote work from Nigeria, Emmanuel has recently relocated to Winnipeg, Canada.

Working remotely is "bittersweet" for Ife. He appreciates the flexibility it offers: "I love the flexibility—rolling out of bed in my pajamas, skipping the madness of morning commutes, and being able to work from anywhere. A cute cafe, a quiet spot with a view… even the beach (though I still haven't actually done that, lol).” For Lean, remote work offers valuable flexibility across time zones. "Remote work suits me well because it lets me operate across different time zones. It involves heavy use of Slack, and I can hop on a call with a teammate anytime. It also means I can work from anywhere—all I need is my laptop and an internet connection.”

Both of them, however, recognize the challenges that remote work brings. The biggest challenge, in Lean’s view, is maintaining boundaries: "That constant connectedness creates a sense that I'm always in the office somehow, and that's the biggest downside of remote work. You have to set boundaries, or else I find myself parked at my home desk literally all day. That's fine when I've got a pressing feature to push out, but it's not great for my back!” "It can get lonely. When you're home all day, every day,” says Ife. “It's easy to feel like a recluse and your social life can take a knock. I have some amazing colleagues I'd love to meet in person, but Zoom calls can only do so much."

When faced with these challenges and as motivation wanes, Ife has his solution: "Whenever that happens, I try to switch things up, leave the house, and go work from a spot or something." Beyond his home, he enjoys working from co-working spaces that double as cafes or regular cafes and restaurants. His essential work toolkit when he works outside includes his headset, some good music, and a cup of hot chocolate. He also enjoys "cafe hopping" to discover new, cozy places to work from.

Unlike Ife, Lean primarily works from home: "I can only work at my home, unfortunately. I have tried to work at co-working spaces but I can't have meetings there because everyone else is talking and I haven't tried noise-cancelling headphones." He has experimented with other locations but found challenges: "I have tried to go to a coffee shop but my laptop needs to be connected and she has a loud fan. Besides, I don't want coffee on my laptop." He theorizes that a place that would work is anywhere quiet, like the library.

Asked about their hometowns and recommendations of where to go and what to do, here are Ife and Lean’s responses. Ife proudly describes Lagos as "a mega city in the most populated country in Africa, Nigeria - the Giant of Africa, this means, there's a lot happening per time. Great vibes, home to some of the most resilient and hardworking people in the world, amazing beaches, restaurants and one of the best nightlife experiences in the world - Like they say, Lagos is the city that never sleeps.” His must-visit recommendations include:

  • The beaches for beautiful coastline views
  • Local restaurants to experience authentic Nigerian dishes
  • Lekki Conservation Center to experience the longest canopy walk in Africa
  • Nike Art Gallery to appreciate Nigerian art

Though Lean now lives in Canada, he shares his perspective on Abuja: "Abuja is a really cool place, lots to see from the hills to the awesome street food like Suya and Kilishi." He particularly recommends experiencing local transportation: "One of the fun ways to get around is in these shared taxis called 'Alongs.' Basically, two people up front, four in the back. You can just flag them down like a regular taxi." He appreciates these shared taxis because "they're cheaper than normal taxis and you can find them all over. Plus, when riding in them you learn your way around and pick up the interesting names for local stops." He does add a practical note: "Just be aware, though, they can get cramped and might not be the cleanest."

Both Ife and Lean have shared important information to keep in mind when visiting Nigeria.

This feature is part of our ongoing series showcasing ShortPoint team members and their work locations worldwide. We hope you've enjoyed these insights as much as our colleagues enjoyed sharing them. Stay tuned for our next location spotlight!
