Most Requested ShortPoint Feature Unlocked: Automatic License Activation
Whether you have a handful or hundreds of SharePoint site collections within your tenancy, having to visit the ShortPoint Dashboard to activate your license on each one when you renew or update it is a pain. We have received feedback and several feature requests to make license activation an automated and seamless experience.
We are happy to announce that we have released Automatic License Activation in ShortPoint SPFx version 8.2 and beyond. With this feature, your updated license details are automatically retrieved and saved whenever you visit a Site Collection that has ShortPoint installed.
We continue to improve ShortPoint with the help of your feedback and feature requests. Thank you for your continued support.
New SharePoint Web Part Design Element In The Latest Update
Starting with ShortPoint SPFx version 8.2 and above, we have made it possible and seamless to integrate any of the out-of-the-box SharePoint web parts within ShortPoint web parts on your intranet page. In the latest update, you get the new SharePoint Web Part Design Element.
Just like any other ShortPoint Design Element, you can insert the SharePoint Web Part Design Element into your page, enter the necessary information to connect to the specific SharePoint web part you want to display, adjust spacing, and more. You can even insert it within content-holding Design Elements such as a Panel, Tab, Background, etc. What is most exciting is that all functions available to that web part are enabled and easily accessible once it is embedded on the page.
You can learn more about How to Embed a SharePoint Web Part into ShortPoint by visiting our Knowledge Base. Explore the new Design Element and discover new ways to mix the strength of SharePoint with the power of ShortPoint.

ShortPoint Connections Tool: Build Reusable Integrations
Do you have a main source of information or data that you integrate into your SharePoint sites almost on every page? Are there ones that you repeatedly need to establish using RSS or REST API connections? ShortPoint has a feature designed to make connecting to these sources more efficient, the Connections tool.
Connections is one of the features found in the ShortPoint Dashboard. It allows you to create RSS feeds and REST API connections and save them as a custom connection type. This means that they will be accessible in the Connect tab of any of the Design Elements. It saves you time in having to configure the integration every time you need to connect to your data source. It will also be visible to other ShortPoint Designers in your team.
Here are some resources that you can read to learn more about the Connections tool and the types of integrations you can create with it:
- Connections Tool in Dashboard: How to Create Re-Usable Integrations - get more details about the Connections tool as well as a walkthrough of the steps you need to take to successfully create a re-usable integration.
- Connection Type: RSS Feeds - find out how the RSS Feeds connection type works.
- Connection Type: REST API - start here to learn about the basic steps in establishing a REST API connection. There is also a collection of REST API use case support articles to reference in our Knowledge Base.
- ShortPoint Connect: Basic Tutorial - if you are not familiar with ShortPoint Connect, you can learn more about it and the general steps to take to establish a connection with any data source.
We hope the Connections tool helps you as you continue building your intranet pages. If you require help or have any questions, you can submit a ticket via support.shortpoint.com and we will be happy to assist you.
The Faces of ShortPoint
Meet Ryan, Our Customer Support Expert
Have you been greeted by a quirky guy with a wide smile at your support meetings with ShortPoint? Well then, you perhaps met with our Customer Support Expert, Ryan Edrada.
As an integral part of the Support Team, he helps customers with their concerns or questions about ShortPoint on a daily basis. He finds investigating complex issues, trying to replicate them, and finding ways to resolve them challenging. However, it also is a fun part of his work because he is learning new things and expanding his knowledge about SharePoint and ShortPoint.
Ryan enjoys his work environment at ShortPoint because everyone is approachable. “I think the recipe for my success at ShortPoint is to work collaboratively with the team and other team members,” he says. He is always in constant communication with the engineering team to find the best fix for customer issues and relay valuable feedback he gets from them to improve the product.
During his time off, you will find Ryan spending time with his kids at the mall or taking them to the playground. He also plays basketball with his college friends.
Would you panic if the plane’s engine suddenly shut down in the middle of the runway in preparation for takeoff? On a flight home from a vacation in Boracay, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Philippines, this happened to Ryan. Everyone was screaming and anxious while his wife turned around to see him opening a bag of chips and not worried at all. What a chill guy!
See you in December
More exciting news is planned for December. Stay tuned! And if you have any questions, suggestions, or feedback, please send us a note. We love to hear from you.
See you next month, ShortPoint hero!
