What's New?
More than likely, you have already caught a glimpse of our resident IT Savvy bear, Kevin. He is that cool mammal showing you the ropes on how to use ShortPoint and inviting you to try it.
Here are a few things you may want to know about Kevin. He was born in the backwoods of southeast Michigan, where he grew up the second of four bears. Following Bear High School, Kevin attended the Bear University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he remains, largely because of the trees… and his love for ShortPoint.
Kevin fancies himself a connoisseur of all things tech and spends most of his time in the office or the woods, where he enjoys fishing, sleeping, word processing and scaring locals with his trademark "BAM".
Right now Kevin is focused on everything that makes ShortPoint awesome, but in the future he'll be guiding new users through the ShortPoint installation process and even offering quick tips on ShortPoint features and integrations.
If you want to catch Kevin in real life, good luck. He's a Bear and quite shifty!
Who is Kevin the Bear, for real?
Kevin the Bear is ShortPoint’s lovable brand mascot. So why Kevin? Well Kevin’s name is a tribute to the individual who purchased the first ShortPoint product license. He represents the overflowing gratitude that the ShortPoint team has for our customers, both in our early beginnings and now!
Then, why a bear? We want everyone to know that ShortPoint builder is so simple, it can turn anyone (or anything) into a SharePoint Designer. We designed ShortPoint to be intuitive and quick to pick up even if you have little to no knowledge about building intranets and designing them.
Kevin the Bear has a lot more in store for you so definitely watch out for him.

A “Footer” is one of the most important elements of any site or page. However, most designers tend to spend less time and effort on page footers because they think people don’t pay as much attention to the content at the bottom of the page.
But, while it is true that there is a significant decrease in the time spent viewing content at the bottom of the page, there will always be an upward trend at the very end. This sudden increase proves the need to pay just as much attention to the functionality and design of your page’s footer.
ShortPoint Generator provides an easy and intuitive way to design and edit your page footers. It allows you to add all the valuable information your users will need to navigate your site while keeping your brand identity intact. Through ShortPoint Generator, you can maximize your creativity. You have the ability to specify and control the color, font, size, and elements of your footer—no coding required.
Below, we have compiled a three-part guide on how you can make the most out of your footer using ShortPoint Generator:
Part 1: Create the Footer from ShortPoint Generator Page - Start by creating your footer in ShortPoint Generator. You have the option to design your footer from scratch or copy & paste a footer design template from our Demos Library.
Part 2: Add the Footer to SharePoint - After designing your footer, you now have to add it to your site using ShortPoint Theme Builder. Follow this guide to learn how.
Part 3: Customizing Your Footer - Now, it is time to customize how you want your footer to look on your site. Explore tons of design possibilities using ShortPoint Theme Builder’s intuitive layout options. Here are a few standouts:
Footer Color Overlay - This will add a pop of color behind your footer, creating an interesting mix of colors that can easily capture your users’ attention.
Fixed Footer - This will fix the footer at a single point on your screen, allowing easier navigation across your site.
Add Space Before & After Footer - This will add whitespace at the top and bottom of your footer, allowing your whole design to breathe by reducing the number of elements users see at once.
Footers are integral parts of your pages. It is time to pay attention to its design and functionality so you can provide the best user experience. Say goodbye to basic footers now and start using ShortPoint Generator to create beautiful and user-friendly footers.
The Faces of ShortPoint
Meet Yana, Our Senior Manager for Information Security and Compliance
Ensuring that the best standards of Information Security and Compliance are effectively implemented and adhered to across all aspects of ShortPoint’s business is a tough job. Good thing that we have Yana Li, Senior Manager for Information Security and Compliance, who gets things done quickly and efficiently. We feature the face, or more appropriately the brains, behind ShortPoint Security in this month’s Snapshot.
In a nutshell, Yana takes care of the whole cybersecurity strategy, risk management, and compliance at ShortPoint. A challenging space to be in given that there are constant threats and risks to face every day. However, these same challenges push her to evolve, read, learn, and think outside the box to predict future threats and equip against them while seeing the bigger picture. Every day is a brainstorming process and this makes her job fun despite the tremendous responsibility.
For Yana, ShortPoint is all about the people. It is one cohesive team who supports and respects each other. Each member is willing to help and share their knowledge and experience. Her recipe for success at ShortPoint includes an open mind, honesty, respectfulness, and transparency. She believes that no man is an island and teamwork is the key to success. At the end of the day, if the team works to find solutions together, then nothing is impossible.
As a cybersecurity professional, thinking about different threat scenarios and staying alert can get stressful. Yana does different sports, outdoor activities, and traveling to recharge her energy and come out fresh and ready for anything. She enjoys playing beach volleyball, beach tennis, wakesurfing, acroyoga, hiking, and more. She also loves to try any new sport that she can get her hands on.
Yana is a licensed skydiver. What is interesting, though, is that she went to get the license to face her fear of heights. Now, she has conquered her fear and likes jumping out of planes when she can. She is tough that way but she can also be a softy and cry during classical music concerts. One final fun fact about Yana is that she loves animals in all shapes and sizes. She has the instant urge to hold them without thinking about her safety. This is why Yana should not be left in the wild alone.
